A NEW SITE HAS BEEN DEVELOPED BY THE INCOMING UCDO COMMITTEE FOR THE 2009/2010 ACADEMIC YEAR. THIS SITE IS NO LONGER ACTIVE AND REMAINS FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES ONLY. CONTENT EXPRESSED HERE MAY NO LONGER REPRESENT OFFICIAL UCDO POLICY. AT THE REQUEST OF THE NEW COMMITTEE, ALL CONTACT INFORMATION AND LINKS TO THE NEW UCDO SITE HAVE BEEN REMOVED. Welcome to the UCDO website. Orienteering involves navigating around a set course in order to locate control points shown on a map. It takes place mainly in forests but also in parks, mountains, sand dunes and occasionally on streets. At the higher levels, it is a competitive sport which involves navigation and fitness. However, with lengths ranging from 2k to 10k everyone can find a course to suit their ability. And of course there is a strong social dimension! Foreign trips in recent years include the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, the Lake District, Yorkshire, Scotland and Belgium. If you are new to the sport, please see What is Orienteering? for more information. The plan is to expand the site regularly so check back often for new sections.
